MISUMI to Introduce ‘D-JIT’ in S. Korea

MISUMI Group Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Ryusei Ono) will implement D-JIT in South Korea starting December 9, 2024. D-JIT enables one-click ordering of manufacturing components in large quantities, providing a radical purchasing solution when customers need to scour the market for parts in the quantities they need. Currently used by more than 50,000 companies(1*) worldwide, D-JIT continuous to evolve to eliminate inefficiencies and bring greater convenience to the purchasing process for Industrial Automation (IA) customers.

In addition to automobiles, South Korea has manufacturing strengths in electronics and IT, including secondary batteries, semiconductors, displays, and smartphones. However, the country also faces a unique industrial challenge: South Korea's labor productivity per hour remains low, ranking 33rd out of 38 OECD member countries (2022). Focusing on manufacturing, South Korea ranks 16th out of 34 major countries (2021), but still lags behind the developed countries of Europe and the United States.^*2
D-JIT will help solve the problems the Korean market faces in the purchasing process of manufacturing components. For example, Korean customers tend to place an extremely high value on speed in decision making and delivery times, and D-JIT can respond with 'reliable, quick delivery', even for high volume orders.
 

Customer A: A company that designs and manufactures display devices

The D-JIT implementation in South Korea will have a positive impact on the Japanese market. By establishing a network linking the inventory and production capacity of Korean suppliers, the number of inventory items and delivery dates of Korean-sourced items will be updated in real time on MISUMI Japan's e-commerce website. This will further enhance our capabilities to respond to high volume orders in Japan.

D-JIT is a new service that achieves Just-In-Time (JIT) in the purchasing process of manufacturing components using digital technology. In Japan, D-JIT has been fully operational since April 15, 2024.^*3
D-JIT's proprietary system centrally tracks the inventory of over 400 suppliers in and outside of Japan, as well as the production capacity of their factories, significantly increasing the quantity available to customers. Its internally developed algorithm combines relevant information in real time and automatically displays quotes and delivery dates for the requested quantity, enabling a prompt response to high volume orders placed on the MISUMI e-commerce website.
This has greatly improved the efficiency of our customers' purchasing managers. Previously, purchasing managers had to search through numerous e-commerce platforms and trading companies to obtain the parts in the quantities they needed. Even when using the MISUMI e-commerce website, there was an instance where they had to wait up to nine hours for a delivery date to be displayed if their order exceeded the available quantity^*4.
With D-JIT, customers can see delivery times and quotes on their screens in zero seconds, even for high volume orders. This creates a world where customers have instant access to delivery times and quotes for all manufacturing components. By eliminating the hassle of searching around for parts and waiting for quotes, and by providing "reliable, quick delivery", which is one of MISUMI's strengths, we are delivering greater value to our customers.
Six months after its implementation in Japan, Thailand and Taiwan, the number of D-JIT user companies has exceeded 50,000^*5, and the number of collaborating suppliers is growing worldwide.
