Message from Arata Shimizu
Since its founding in 1963, MISUMI has expanded its services worldwide, with a strong focus on Monozukuri industry. Today, we are proud to serve more than 320,000 customers globally. By continuously innovating our business model to meet the diverse needs of customers engaged in design and manufacturing, we have continued to grow over the years.
Starting with catalog sales, MISUMI has been an industry pioneer—expanding into EDI integration and e-commerce, and more recently into technology-driven services such as meviy, which uses AI to provide automatic quotations from 3D CAD data. We have also strengthened our product lineup by establishing a network of in-house manufacturing facilities and partner companies, enabling us to deliver products quickly and reliably while realizing true mass customization.
One of MISUMI’s core strengths has been our focus on our customers’ Monozukuri processes themselves. With the aim of improving the convenience of those processes, and by placing strong emphasis on our customers’ “time value,” we have continuously innovated them while advancing our own business model.
Today, technological progress is accelerating at an unprecedented pace, and we are moving beyond digitalization into the era of generative AI. We believe this shift represents a major inflection point for MISUMI from two important perspectives. First, it enables us to further strengthen and accelerate our core capability in process innovation—an area in which we have long excelled. Second, the growth of the AI market itself is expected to drive expansion across many of our customers’ markets. In particular, AI is fueling growth in industries such as semiconductors, infrastructure, robotics and humanoids, agritech (smart agriculture), and optical-electronic convergence. At the same time, we see significant potential to deliver further process innovation in our established customer industries, including automotive and factory automation.
By combining the Monozukuri capabilities and IT expertise we have cultivated over the years with advanced AI utilization, we will further enhance the value and competitiveness of our products. We also aim to build an AI-enabled platform that connects suppliers and customers, creating new sales channels that serve as key points of customer engagement. Moreover, by strengthening our supply chain capabilities at a global level, we will continue to pursue sustainable growth.
