Announcement of Tadashi Saegusa’s Stepping Down as Chairman Emeritus and Appointment as Special Advisor

MISUMI Group Inc. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Ryusei Ono) hereby announces that Tadashi Saegusa, Chairman Emeritus and Second-Era Founder, has notified the Company of his decision to step down as Chairman Emeritus. Following this notification, the Company resolved to appoint him as Special Advisor and Second-Era Founder.

2.    Biography
Saegusa graduated from Hitotsubashi University and earned an MBA from Stanford University. In his twenties, after working at a Mitsui affiliated company, he became the first consultant hired domestically by the Boston Consulting Group in Japan. At age 32, he was appointed Executive Managing Director of a joint venture between a leading Japanese conglomerate and a foreign company, and the following year became its President. He subsequently led the turnaround of a bankrupt venture rescued by Otsuka Pharmaceutical and launched a venture capital firm, serving as President of both organizations. At age 41, he founded Saegusa International Co., Ltd., where he spent 16 years revitalizing underperforming businesses as a turnaround specialist. 
In 2002, Saegusa became CEO of MISUMI, transforming the company from a trading firm with 340 employees into a global enterprise with more than 10,000 employees worldwide. He later served as Chairman of the Board and has held his current positions since 2021. Saegusa has also taught as a Visiting Professor at Hitotsubashi University Business School. His publications include “Ketteiban: Heisoku Kigyō o Yomigaeraseru” (The Definitive Edition: Transforming a Company), “Ketteiban: Senryaku Professional” (The Definitive Edition: Uphill Battle), and “Ketteiban: V‑ji Kaifuku no Keiei” (The Definitive Edition: Turnaround Task Force),—a series with a cumulative print run of one million copies—with local‑language editions published in the United States, China, Taiwan, and South Korea.
