“meviy Finder”, AI Drawing Search System for Machine Parts

meviy, an AI parts procurement platform of MISUMI Group Inc., (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; Representative Director and President: Ryusei Ono) is proud to announce the launch of “meviy Finder”. "meviy Finder” is an AI-powered drawing search system for machine parts that will be available for free starting from August 2024. While meviy has so far created time value in the procurement domain, the newly launched meviy Finder goes beyond to achieve greater operational efficiency across the entire engineering chain.
We will continue to provide time value to our global customers in the IA (Industrial Automation) industry through expanding our services and contribute to enhancing their productivity. 

To date, meviy has not only streamlined the drawing and quoting processes in machine parts procurement, but has also achieved productivity improvements for many customers, such as reducing lead times and costs. On the other hand, there are still many problems to be solved in areas other than procurement. In the manufacturing customer survey conducted by our company, many expressed a desire for "improvements in the efficiency of finding and sharing past drawings."

When asked about drawing management, over 60% of respondents said they had problems finding past drawings (see chart, below left), and the results of the breakdown by job type (see chart, below right) showed that drawing management is a common pain point regardless of job type. Specific responses included "I want to find similar parts, but I can't find them" and "I want to search not only by drawing name, but also by various information written on the drawing". In order to solve the bottlenecks preventing productivity improvement in searching for past drawings, we developed "meviy Finder", an AI-powered drawing data search system for machine parts, by applying the AI drawing analysis technology cultivated through the development of meviy.

meviy Finder, our high-level AI for drawing recognition, automatically analyzes information such as dimensions, symbols, and texts contained in drawings. By accumulating these data eliminates the need to manually enter drawing information as in the past, resulting in greater efficiency. In addition, since the accumulated information can be easily searched by keywords, the time spent searching for past drawings can be greatly reduced. AI can also determine the similarity of drawing data and quickly search for similar drawings from the stored data. All of these features reduce the time customers spend searching for drawings and eliminate their inefficiencies. 
We have always recognized our role as the social infrastructure that supports the manufacturing operations of the world's 318,000 companies. With this in mind, we have provided many services and functions free of charge, such as the service that allows customers to download CAD data for more than 30 million machine parts that we supply, and software products such as "RAPiD Design”*1 and "MISUMI FRAMES"*2 that allow customers to complete the entire process from selecting parts to obtaining CAD data and a quote in a single step.
meviy Finder is a service developed by applying the technology cultivated in meviy 2D*3, which has already been available since June 2023. We have decided to offer meviy Finder for free in the hope of eliminating inefficiencies for as many customers as possible. Our future plans include expanding the scope of the service to include not only 2D drawing data but also 3D CAD data. In addition, by linking meviy Finder and meviy, we aim to provide a service that allows customers to move seamlessly from drawing search to quote to order, and contribute to further improvements in manufacturing productivity.
