Now in use at DENSO, a global automotive supplier

We are pleased to announce that meviy, an AI platform for parts procurement (offered by MISUMI Group Inc.), has been deployed by DENSO CORPORATION (headquartered in Kariya, Aichi Prefecture; hereinafter "DENSO"), a global automotive parts manufacturer. meviy is being used in the development of DENSO’s next-generation automated guided vehicle (AGV) for in-house use, in a series of processes from prototype development to mass production. We will continue to provide time value to our customers in the IA (Industrial Automation) industry through improving our services and contribute to enhancing their productivity.

DENSO, a leading provider of advanced automotive technologies, systems, and products, has recently been focusing on developments to improve the efficiency of production sites. One such example is the next-generation AGV, which automatically moves parts and cargo inside factories and distribution warehouses, placing them on machines and shelves. In developing AGVs for internal use, DENSO was faced with low productivity in the design phase and complicated parts procurement. In particular, the timeconsuming process of creating 2D drawings from 3D CAD design data resulted in longer development lead times and higher costs. To address these issues, DENSO has deployed meviy for AGV development, which enabled them to procure parts without creating 2D drawings, resulting in significant cost reductions and operational efficiency improvement.

With meviy, they can get a quote and procure parts using only 3D data. The 2D drawings needed to order parts, which used to take about two weeks to prepare, are no longer required. Parts orders can now be completed in a few hours.

In addition to reducing indirect costs by improving productivity by meviy, the combination of our "high volume discounts" and "Economy Shipping option” (long lead time, low price) has successfully reduced costs by approximately 50%.

meviy issues a model number (order number) for each part, which is the same as the catalog item, and shares the model number with each factory so that the same part can be procured from each location. This eliminates the need to ship parts to multiple plants across the country, facilitating maintenance response.

Because meviy displays alerts for parts that cannot be machined and provides the reason why machining is not possible, it also improves the skills of designers and contributes to their training.
