CNC Milling (Square Parts) Now with Freeform Surface

As of November 11th, meviy, an AI-based parts procurement platform powered by MISUMI Group Inc. (“MISUMI”; headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; Representative Director and President: Ryusei Ono), began offering automated quotation for “freeform surface” in its CNC milling (of square parts). Customers can now order parts with complex, smooth curved surfaces and shapes that include R-chamfered bottoms, all of which were previously unavailable.  
MISUMI will continue to provide time value to our global customers in the IA (Industrial Automation) industry through expanding our services and contribute to enhancing their productivity. 

Parts with freeform surfaces^*1 are generally difficult to machine, and only a limited number of fabricators can handle them, resulting in long delivery lead times. For this reason, many customers have asked meviy to add a complex freeform surface offering. In response, meviy has developed an unconventional shape recognition technology and achieved the capabilities of a radius end mill^*2 and a ball end mill^*3. Customers can now enjoy stable delivery and planned procurement for parts with complex freeform surfaces that were previously outside the scope of meviy’s automated quotation.
